The Vesper
gin · vodka · Lillet
Shaken, of course. We didn’t invent it, but we have strong feelings about the lemon.

Mayfair · London · W1
A supper club in the old Mayfair tradition — est. 1929
Doors at six. Last orders considerably later.
The Room
Down a flight of stairs off Hertford Street, behind a door with no sign worth mentioning, the room has kept the same hours and the same opinions since 1929. Chandeliers from a Viennese ballroom. Booths in oxblood velvet, deep enough to lose an evening in.
The band plays from ten. The kitchen holds its nerve until one. Nobody has ever been asked to leave for laughing too loudly, though one gentleman in 1947 came close.
“The kind of room where the evening makes its own arrangements.”
— The Mayfair Courier, 1934
Le Souper — Three Acts
An intermission of one Martini between acts is customary, not compulsory.
